Solution to Gillespie flooding clogged at the source

A clogged culvert is said to be the culprit that caused some homeowners on Gillespie Street in Indianola to feel a little more waterlogged than other area residents after last week’s torrential rainfall.

The heavy rains and subsequent storms left up to a half-foot of floodwater in some homes on the north side of the street.




Gentry band and choir students sign college scholarships

Although the Gentry High School band and choir members have been earning scholarships all along, Principal Willie Bolden said on Friday that it was the first time they have stepped into the spotlight with a formal pronouncement of their intent to continue their musical careers at the collegiate level.







A healthier Moorhead: Gov. Bryant’s life comes full circle as he helps christen new clinic

Gov. Phil Bryant returned to his hometown on Friday for the grand opening of the new Phillips Health Center in downtown Moorhead. Bryant cut the ceremonial ribbon as city and clinic officials along with other dignitaries looked on.
