Funeral services for Rex Allen Morgan, 80, of Indianola were held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 11 at First United Methodist Church in Indianola.  Interment was at Indianola City Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola.  Prior to the service, a visitation was held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Services for Ruby Rodgers of Moorhead will be at 12 noon Saturday at Trinity House of Prayer, Moorhead.

Ms. Rodgers, 64, died Friday, Mar. 8, 2019.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Markham Cemetery, Moorhead.


Sunflower County under "enhanced" risk for severe weather Saturday

The National Weather Service in Jackson said this morning that Sunflower County, along with the surrounding area, is in “enhanced risk” of strong storms on Saturday.

According to the latest information, NWS says damaging winds up to 70 miles per hour, along with large hail and tornadoes are possible on Saturday and Saturday night.



Mary Louise Ivy

Services for Mary Louise Ivy of Moorhead will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, Moorhead.

Ms. Ivy, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Moorhead.


James Derrell Baker

James Derrell Baker, 59, of Indianola, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at his home.

James, affectionately known as Bubba, was born May 4, 1959 to Billy and Bonnie Sue Cockrell Baker in Indianola.  James served in the National Guard and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Indianola.




James Johnson

Memorial services for James Johnson of Indianola will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Brother Melvin Baker will officiate at the services.

Byas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.

Survivors include a host of relatives and friends.
