Vacation Bible School will begin Monday, June 3 at the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. John Weathersby will be in charge assisted by Mrs. Joe Buchanan, Mrs. Bill Hughes and Mrs. W. D. Simmons.
The Episcopalian Bishop of Mississippi conducted evening prayer and confirmation services at All Saints Episcopal Church in Inverness Sunday. Confirmed were Mrs. Duncan Baird, Jim Baird and George Hart.

Laura Walden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Walden is the Valedictorian for 1994 at the Indianola Academy and Vanessa McClain, daughter of Clarence McClain, Jr. and Marcia Davis is Salutatorian. Senior Class President Elizabeth Gresham will give the welcome address.
Jewel Kirksey told her husband last Friday that this was the day of her 20th anniversary working at Planters Bank.
Less than an hour later, she was shot three times by would-be robbers as she entered the back door for work at the downtown branch The FBI and local law enforcement are investigating. Mrs. Kirksey is recovering at the local hospital.
15 YEARS AGO,
Indianola Academy’s Christopher Polk captured the school’s outstanding senior athlete award during the recent sports awards banquet.
Christopher Williams of Moorhead has graduated from the Mississippi School for Math and Science at Columbus.
He was formerly a student at Gentry High School.
Elisha Langdon of Ruleville has had many honors bestowed upon him during his career as a teacher and public servant. His most recent honor was being named Citizen of the Year by the Ruleville Rotary Club.
UPDATE ON LAURA WALDEN
Laura was valedictorian when she graduated from Indianola Academy in 1994. She went on to graduate from the University of Mississippi in Speech Pathology and got her Master’s from the University of Montevallo in 2000.
She was in Alabama when she renewed her friendship with Randall Lancaster of Indianola, and they married in 2000.
She giggled when asked if they dated in high school and said, “No, I married an older man, he is six years older than I am.” They have three children, Lillian who’s 14, Virginia is 11 and Luke is 9.
They live in Birmingham, Alabama where Randall is territory manager for Orthofix.
Laura is a stay at home mom at this time but is a registered Speech Pathologist. In high school, she played basketball and was a cheerleader. She is an avid tennis player now.
