When the Israelites left Egypt en route to the Promised Land, I’m sure they had many worries and fears. Because we depend on food for daily nourishment, I know “How will we eat?” was among those things that contributed to their stress.
To calm their fears of possible starvation, they were told, for food, “manna” would fall from heaven each day, and when the “manna” fell, they were to gather ONLY enough for that day. Then, the next morning, “manna” would fall again. If anyone disobeyed and gathered more than enough for that particular day, the extra spoiled.
In other words, they were to solely depend on God- not themselves- for provisions each day.
In this NEW YEAR, those are our instructions as well- GATHER ONLY WHAT WE NEED FOR THE DAY.
We will not spend another year trying to be god over our own lives. We will take God at His Word and stand on His promises. We are to trust that HE WILL PROVIDE, even when it’s difficult to believe because of what we may see or feel.
When we pray, “Give us this day, our daily bread,” we are asking God to provide all we need in the 24 hours increment He gives us and we trust that He will.
The Bible instructs us to not borrow troubles from the next day. We are to stay in the moment…the RIGHT NOW… and not worry about tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year…
…but so many of us disobey and try to move ahead of the 24 hours, trying to make things happen in our own strength.
Then, just like the Israelites who disobeyed and gathered more than instructed, we find that the extra time and energy we exhaust trying to ensure that we make provisions for ourselves accomplishes and amounts to NOTHING AT ALL.
Be hopeful, my friend.
Whatever you stand in the need of, rest assured GOD WILL PROVIDE…just as He did for the Israelites.
If it’s healing, GOD WILL PROVIDE.
If it’s a financial blessing, GOD WILL PROVIDE.
If it’s peace, GOD WILL PROVIDE.
If it’s clarity, GOD WILL PROVIDE.
Stop trying to figure it out on your own!
Stop exhausting your time & energy trying to move ahead of GOD!
Trust Him with this day and with your future.
No, we do not know what tomorrow holds, but we do know The One who holds tomorrow, and because He holds tomorrow, we have nothing to fear.
Happy New Year. ❤️
