NAACP Monthly Meeting
Sunflower County NAACP Branch #5333 will have its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. TODAY. The featured guest speakers will be the Honorable Tyree Irving, Mississippi Democratic Party chairman and Mr. Ronald Sampson, chief of police for the City of Indianola. The meeting will take place at Gabby's Event Center, 125 Front Street, Indianola. The meeting is open to the public.
Clothing Give-Away
Delta Missions Ministry, located at 410 Johnson Street, Indianola, is having a clothing give-away from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. FRIDAY and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. SATURDAY, or until all items are gone. Masks will be required. Also, please bring your own bags or boxes for your clothing as no bags or boxes will be available at the site.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed for a new community service program in Indianola. Needed are: coaches, mentors, trash pickup teams, neighborhood watch teams and auxiliary police. Spring Football Jamboree
The Gentry High School Rams will participate in a Spring Football Jamboree SATURDAY to be held at Starkville High School. The Rams will take on 10-time state champion Louisville High School at 12 noon. There will be no tickets sold at the game. In order to purchase a ticket you must scan the QR code on the SCCSD Facebook page.
MVSU AA Recruitment Drive
The Sunflower County Mississippi Valley State University Alumni Association will host a recruitment drive from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. SUNDAY at Higher Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 303 Pershing Street, Moorhead. Graduates and associate members are welcome to become a part of the Sunflower County MVSU family. Dues are $160 per year (national dues are $100 & local dues are $60). Be Smart and Control Your Diabetes for Youth
Partnering with Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine, B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center is offering a Juvenile Be Smart and Control Your Diabetes Program each FOURTH MONDAY of each month. The program is for ages 6 – 17 years of age and participants must register to attend. Deadline to register for this month's session is MONDAY, MAY 16. Applications may be picked up at the museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or downloaded and printed from www.bbkingmuseum.org. S.O.S. for Healing Conversations
The monthly "Safe Online Space (S.O.S.) for Healing Conversations" local online chatroom session for sexual assault victims/survivors will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. MONDAY, MAY 16. Sunflower Stitchers

4-H Idol Contest
Introducing the 4-H Idol contest! Find your spark! Auditions to be the 4-H Idol will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. SATURDAY, MAY 21 at the B. B. King Museum. Your performance can be a group or single entry. It can be a musical instrument only or singing and/or dancing. You do not have to be in 4-H to participate. This is open to all youth ages 8 to 18. High point senior performers (ages 14 to 18) will be invited to perform on June 2, 2022, at Mississippi State University during State 4-H Congress. Sunflower/Humphreys Counties Progress, Inc. is planning the following Community Picnics, complete with FREE hot dogs & hamburgers and giveaways to the first 100 persons:
• TUESDAY, MAY 24 – from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Humphreys County Neighborhood Facility, located at 501 Hayden Street, Belzoni.
• WEDNESDAY, MAY 25 – from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ruleville Community House, located at 114 Church Street, Ruleville.
• THURSDAY, MAY 26 – from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SHCPI Central Office, located at 414 MLK Drive, Indianola.

ServSafe® Food Safety Course
Attention: Restaurant owners, managers, and/or employees who need certification in ServSafe®! The ServSafe® Food Safety Course will be offered in Indianola from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. TUESDAY, MAY 24 at the Extension Office, 112 South MLK Dr., Indianola. BeSMART: Control Your Diabetes
The BeSMART: Control Your Diabetes program is continuing a healthy track in 2022. Join them at the B.B. King Museum for a healthy lunch and information pick up from 12 p.m. to 1p.m. on the FOURTH THURSDAY of each month (next date – MAY 26). Reunion/Grand Opening/Festival
SATURDAY, MAY 28 will be a very eventful day in Doddsville! The historic Delta Industrial Institute (D.I.I.) reunion committee announces that alumni will be celebrating their 18th bi-annual reunion, which will coincide with the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. grand opening of the D.I.I. Museum and Library. BBKM Summer Camp
Now Enrolling! The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center’s Art of Living Smart Summer Camp will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. MONDAYS THROUGH THURSDAYS, JUNE 6 TO JULY 14 for ages 8 to 17 years old. BASE Summer Camp
Harmony Enrichment Foundation, in collaboration with America Reads and Delta Discover Counseling, will host BASE Summer Camp focusing on Behavior modification, Academics and Social skill Enrichment. Targeting ages 6 to11, the camp will be held Mondays through Thursdays, JUNE 6 to JULY 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Transportation will be provided to their location at 612 N. Teacher Workshops
The Sunflower and Humphreys County Soil & Water Conservation districts will be hosting four teacher workshops this summer: a “Soil Food” Environmental Education teacher workshop (JUNE 6-10); a “Turn Up Green” Environmental Education Teacher workshop (JUNE 13-17); a “Field P’s” Environmental Education teacher workshop (JULY 11-15); and a “Delta Gumbo” Environmental Education teacher workshop (JULY 18-22). Summer Feeding Program
Sunflower Humphreys Counties Progress, Inc. announces that they are once again the sponsoring agency for USDA Summer Feeding Program. All churches and organizations sponsoring summer feeding programs for children 1–18 years of age are eligible to participate. We can provide your children with two meals per day, breakfast and lunch.
