This year’s National Day of Prayer observance will take place from noon until 12:55 p.m. TODAY on the south steps of the Sunflower County Courthouse. In case of rain the event will move next door to First United Methodist Church.

Citizen Volunteers Needed
Citizen volunteers are needed for a new community service program in Indianola. Needed are: coaches, mentors, trash pickup teams, neighborhood watch teams and auxiliary police. S.O.S. for Healing Conversations
The monthly "Safe Online Space (S.O.S.) for Healing Conversations" local online chatroom session for sexual assault victims/survivors will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. MONDAY, MAY 16. 4-H Idol Contest
Introducing the 4-H Idol contest! Find your spark! Auditions to be the 4-H Idol will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. SATURDAY, MAY 21 at the B. B. King Museum. Your performance can be a group or single entry. It can be a musical instrument only or singing and/or dancing. You do not have to be in 4-H to participate. This is open to all youth ages 8 to 18. High point senior performers (ages 14 to 18) will be invited to perform on June 2, 2022, at Mississippi State University during State 4-H Congress. The ServSafe® Food Safety Course will be offered in Indianola from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. TUESDAY, MAY 24 at the Extension Office, 112 South MLK Dr., Indianola. BeSMART: Control Your Diabetes
The BeSMART: Control Your Diabetes program is continuing a healthy track in 2022. Join them at the B.B. King Museum for a healthy lunch and information pick up from 12 p.m. to 1p.m. on the FOURTH THURSDAY of each month (next date – MAY 26). Teacher Workshops
The Sunflower and Humphreys County Soil & Water Conservation districts will be hosting four teacher workshops this summer: a “Soil Food” Environmental Education teacher workshop (JUNE 6-10); a “Turn Up Green” Environmental Education Teacher workshop (JUNE 13-17); a “Field P’s” Environmental Education teacher workshop (JULY 11-15); and a “Delta Gumbo” Environmental Education teacher workshop (JULY 18-22). Sunflower Humphreys Counties Progress, Inc. announces that they are once again the sponsoring agency for USDA Summer Feeding Program.
