Suspect wanted in Friday night Indianola shooting death

By BY RECARDO THOMAS STAFF REPORTER,

A Friday night shooting in Indianola has resulted in the death of one man and the suspected shooter is still at large. Indianola police are asking the public's help in locating 23-year-old Leradric (Co-Co) Gardner, whose last known address is 132 Aquarius Circle.

Gardner is the lone suspect in the shooting death of 36-year-old Marcus Hutchinson, 201 Janet Davis Circle. Police Chief Edrick Hall reported that a call about a shooting at a residence on Front Street Ext., came in to the department on Friday at around 10:23 p.m.

Although no official motive has been released, Hall said the two men were reportedly engaged in a physical fight that started outside and consequently moved to the inside where Gardner allegedly got a firearm and shot Hutchinson.

Hutchinson was taken to South Sunflower County Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

Hall said this is an ongoing investigation and no other information is being released. "At this time we're not releasing any other information as far as motive or location where he was shot. We're just encouraging the public or anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mr. Gardner to give us a call or call crimestoppers or the sheriff's department," said Hall
