Plans are underway for Indianola’s citywide Thanksgiving service. Local clergy met this week to finalize the details of the event, which will be held Sunday November 24 at First United Methodist Church in Indianola beginning at 6 p.m.
“There is nothing quite as beautiful and awe-inspiring as the site of ALL God's children coming together as ONE people to worship our Heavenly Father and celebrate His unwavering presents and provision for our lives,” said Reverend Trey Skaggs, pastor of First United Methodist Church.
Clergy and laypersons from across the city will help conduct the Sunday evening service and Reverend Ellis Johnson, pastor of Mount Pleasant M.B. Church will deliver this year's Thanksgiving message.
Proceeds from the service will be used to feed and adopt needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas and Reverend Herron Wilson said, “Our goal is to brighten the faces and warm the hearts of families this holiday season. In doing so, we pray families will experience and know the love of God.”
A mass choir will render the music at the service under the direction of Ric Grant, Drew McDowell, Chrysanthemum Frizell and song leader Emily Shafer.
Choir rehearsal will be held at 5 p.m., on Sunday, one hour before the service, in the church's sanctuary. Persons interested in singing in the choir should make plans to attend the choir rehearsal.
First United Methodist Church is located next to the courthouse in downtown Indianola and organizers welcome everyone to attend the service.
