IPD Investigating Wednesday night violence

Indianola police are currently investigating separate incidents of gunfire that took place in the Oak Street area on Wednesday night.

Details at this time are scarce, but police say the first shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m., and resulted in the death of an Indianola man, whose name and age has not been released by police.

The second shooting took place soon afterwards and was apparently retaliatory, according to Sgt. Irish Johnson. Someone fired shots into a dwelling that resulted in unrevealed injuries to another man and a woman, who as of Thursday morning were being treated at a Jackson hospital.

Police have not released the names of the victims in that shooting either and Johnson said no arrests have been made and the cases are still under investigation.
