Twin’s Stop and Save is a family-owned and operated convenience store that is grooming the next generation of entrepreneurs for the Bolden family.
Autrey Bolden passed down his knowledge of business to his twin grandsons, Justin and Jason Hall.
Twin’s Stop and Save, which is located on Garrard Avenue right next door to their office where they operate their other businesses, opened its doors last September, but the twins were in business long before that.
“It’s a lot that they learned that I taught them and a lot that they already knew” said Bolden, when speaking of his twin grandsons, Justin and Jason Hall.
“I always try to teach my grandsons that you can have your own business,” Bolden said. “You don’t have to invest your money in toys, cars… Invest your money in something that is going to take care of you.”
The twins are no strangers to business. They began helping their grandfather with his business at a very young age.
“It’s very important to have. It might motivate some other young black people to go into business” said Bolden when speaking of the importance of having black-owned businesses in the community.
The twins’ grandfather wanted them to have a business of their own.
One of the twins can be found at the cash register or drive-thru window at all times at Twin’s Stop & Save. Their regular hours are 7:30 a.m until 10 p.m during the week.
They’re open later on the weekend - until 12 a.m or later.
Autrey Bolden got an early start in business because his father was involved in retail when he was younger. His father was a farmer and owned a grocery store in Indianola.
Bolden describes the opening of the convenience store as a “smooth transition” for the twins. They were able to apply their knowledge of business operations as to how to operate the store and the pricing of items.
The physical closeness of the businesses makes it easier for them to operate all their businesses at the same time.
The store also has a drive-thru window for the convenience of the customer.
Justin Hall says the most challenging part of the business is knowing what the customers want, but that challenge has been overcome over the last couple of months as they expand their products.
They plan on expanding even more and adding a kitchen.
Twin’s Stop & Save is keeping business in the family and trying to keep customers happy.
