Lady Tigers advance to the Big House with 52-49 win over Belmont


Update: The Lady Tigers will play Tylertown on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the semifinals in Jackson. 

The last basketball team still alive in Sunflower County is headed to the Big House.

The Lady Tigers of Thomas E. Edwards Senior High advanced to play at the Jackson Coliseum for a shot at a 3A state title with their 52-49 Friday night win over Belmont.

The game was played at Itawamba Community College.

Jacorriah Bracey led the squad with 32 points and 11 rebounds. 

Shamiyah Thomas ahd 11 points and 10 rebounds in the game. 

The Lady Tigers, coached by Chaquita Bracey, were ranked No. 1 in girls 3A basketball coming into the season.

They eliminated Booneville and Independence at home last week to advance to the quarterfinals.
