Mayor: Sunflower County has first case of confirmed COVID-19

By BRYAN DAVIS PUBLISHER,

It appears that Sunflower County has its first confirmed case of the new coronavirus COVID-19.

Few details are available but Indianola Mayor Steve Rosenthal confirmed the case in a Friday evening post.

The Mississippi State Department of Health had not confirmed the case in its daily report of confirmed cases on Friday.

”The City of Indianola currently does not have a plan to lock the city down in the next 48 hours,” Rosenthal said. “That information circulating on Facebook is inaccurate. I can confirm we do have our first case of the Covid-19 virus. We ask again...if you don’t have to travel please don’t. When you do, keep your distance.”
