Nearly 700 tested for COVID-19 in Indianola this week

By BRYAN DAVIS PUBLISHER,

Nearly 700 people were tested for COVID-19 in Indianola this week.

Delta Health Center set up a two-day free drive-thru testing site on U.S. 82 on Wednesday and Thursday, and 688 people showed up for testing.

Those being tested did not need a doctor’s referral.

According to the Mississippi State Department of Health's latest official numbers, there are currently 55 COVID-19 patients in Sunflower County.

DHC Chief Program Planning & Development Officer Robin Boyles told The E-T today that results from those tests should start coming in on Monday, and those who tested positive will be notified first to ensure that they begin the process of self-quarantining.

“We would like everyone to continue to practice social distancing and wearing a mask, but encourage people to remain at home when they are able to,” Boyles said.

DHC will again have a testing site in the Delta in neighboring Greenville next Wednesday and Thursday. That site will be at the old Kroger parking lot at 2315 Hwy. 82 E.

DHC will be there from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday.

“Would like to also remind everyone that Delta Health Center provides primary health care services at our Indianola clinic at 102 S. Martin Luther King and in Moorhead at 110 W. Washington,” Boyles said.
