NSA names elementary principal
The North Sunflower Academy Board of Directors and Headmaster Janet Ray are pleased you announce that Hilari Tackett will be the new elementary principal for the 2020-21 school term.
Tackett has been on staff at North Sunflower for nine years and has taught 4K, 5K and most recently 2nd grade. She was also the former cheer sponsor.
She comes with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Early Childhood Development from Delta State University.
“I am really looking forward to next year,” Tackett said. “ I have so many new ideas that I am excited to implement to see our elementary side grow and flourish.”
Most important to Tackett is to increase parent involvement in all aspects.
“We need more parent interaction,” she added.
Another idea that she plans to start on this summer is turning the halls of the elementary wing into an inspiring and motivational place to walk and learn.
“We want to use this summer to really put a special touch on our side of the school. Decorating the doors, walls, floors and ceilings! When our elementary students return after summer break we want them to be excited about learning in a environment that is fun but educational.”
She also hopes to bring in professionals to certify all her staff in First Aid and CPR.
Another educational resource she hopes to include is the educating of the teachers on all aspects of using the Smart Boards in each classroom.
“We all know the basics, but there are so many tool buttons that we can be using but don’t because we need more training. That’s really high on my list of things for our teachers to learn before returning to school next year.”
Tackett said North Sunflower takes pride in their small Christian-like classrooms and she plans on working with her staff to ensure every student gets that special hands-on attention.
“My door will always be open to my students, teachers and parents,” She added.
"We are so happy to welcome Ms. Tackett to the administration side of our faculty," Ray said.
"She has always been one of our most versatile teachers and we are confident in her skills and dedication to lead our elementary wing of the school."
