Sunflower County held its swearing in ceremony on Monday and 14 incumbents and newly elected officials took the oath of office for their respective positions.
Circuit Court Judge Carol White-Richard administered the oath before a packed courtroom of supporters, District 31 Representative Otis Anthony II provided the opening and closing prayers and Christila Baggett-Strong sang the national anthem.
Wednesday marked their official first day in office.
Those taking the oath of office were, Gloria McIntosh—Chancery Clerk, Carolyn P. Hamilton—Circuit Clerk, Heather Burton—Coroner, Gwendolyn Jimison—County Prosecuting Attorney, James Haywood—Sheriff, Cynthia W. Chandler—Tax Assessor-Collector, Glenn Donald—Supervisor District 1, Riley Rice—Supervisor District 2, Ben Gaston—Supervisor District 3, Anthony Clark—Supervisor District 4, Gloria Dickerson—Supervisor District 5, Lisa Bell—Justice Court Judge—Northern District, Gwendolyn Pernell—Justice Court Judge—Southern District and James Lee—Constable Southern District.
