Police seeking person of interest in Wednesday night shooting death

An Indianola family is mourning the loss of one of its own after a Wednesday night shooting in the city turned deadly.

Indianola police say they are looking for Stephon Snipes as a person of interest in the shooting incident that took place Wednesday around 8 p.m. IPD Chief Edrick Hall said that this shooting is possibly in retaliation for another shooting incident that happened prior, but no further details were given, and no charges have been filed.

Initial information provided by police, who are still actively investigating the homicide, said D’Angelo Davis was killed and another person was injured on or in the area of Brantley Circle last night.

Davis was taken to South Sunflower County Hospital where the medical staff attempted to revive him but attempts were unsuccessful. The second victim was transferred to a Jackson hospital with a gunshot wound to the back and was last reported to be in stable condition.

A man who was seen standing in the street, allegedly fired into a vehicle hitting both of the victims.

Police are asking for anyone with information regarding the shooting to please contact them and asking Southgate and Brantley Circle residents, who may have seen anything or have security cameras on their property, to please contact them.

They are the perfect definition of a work in progress.
