The number of confirmed COVID-19 patients in Sunflower County jumped from 452 to 470 on Friday.
The total number of deaths did not change from eight the previous day, according to information provided by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
Sunflower County also held steady with three active long-term care facility outbreaks that were reported last week.
Two of the three cases across three facilities in the county are staff members.
Neighboring Washington County, which joined Sunflower on a list of counties expected to go under enhanced restrictions by the governor next week, hit the 700 mark for cases.
Tallahatchie County now has 178 cases. Leflore has 600 cases, Humphreys has 161 cases, Coahoma has 219 cases, and Bolivar has 394 cases.
