Phillips speaks to Lions

Lion Malone Phillips recently spoke to the Indianola Lions Club about his unexpected kidney transplant experience.  Lion Malone shared many examples of God’s hand protecting him and his family and guiding them along this transplant journey.  We are thankful for Lion Malone’s remarkable recovery and are proud to call him a Lion.




Lawrence Wilburn Long V debuts

Mr. and Mrs. Will Long of Indianola proudly announce the birth of their son. Lawrence Wilburn Long V on April 27, 2020 at Woman’s Hospital in Jackson.

Lawrence weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 19¼ inches long.

He is welcomed by his sister, Mary Critz Long, age 3.





YANKY 72 memorial to be live-streamed

The third annual YANKY 72 memorial ceremony will be live-streamed.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the only event that will be taking place is a brief ceremony on  Friday, July 10 at 6 p.m.

Community members are encouraged to stay home and watch the ceremony online, which will be streamed on the YANKY 72 Memorial Facebook page.






B.B. King Museum reopens to crowd

The B.B. King Museum & Delta Interpretive Center opened its doors for the first time since March this week. Voted the state’s best tourist attraction by USAToday readers in 2018, the museum is Sunflower County’s biggest tourist attraction, consistently drawing over 25,000 visitors a year.
