Families First for Mississippi Resource Center opens in town

The Families First for Mississippi Resource Center is now open in downtown Indianola and Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat came by recently for a special visit to welcome the children and their parents to the new facility.

“This is one of the best kept secrets in Mississippi,” resource center Director Ben Gaston said.












Smithsonian Museum Director Lonnie Bunch to speak for Medgar Wiley Evers Lecture Series

Lonnie G. Bunch III, founding director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, will be the 2018 Medgar Wiley Evers Lecture Series speaker.

The program will be held Thursday, April 19, at 6 p.m. at Galloway United Methodist Church in Jackson. The event is free and open to the public.
