No longer in park

Residents in Drew are happy now that the major work on Park Avenue is completed and traffic has reopened on the main thoroughfare. The project had been stalled this summer due to unexpected issues after the original pavement was torn up. It was put on hold, as crews waited for more funding to correct those issues and complete the street.


Challenge not accepted

Despite The E-T’s call for a cease-fire on New Year’s Eve, some folks inside the city limits in Indianola apparently fired off a couple of extra shots in response to our New Year’s challenge. These shell casings were found by one of our readers at the Scout Hut on Jan. 1.



JMG Student of the Week

The Jobs for Mississippi Graduates Student of the Week is Derriya Hughes. The junior Indianola native aims to pursue a career as a registered nurse upon graduation next year. Her dream job is to be a pediatrician. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and traveling.


Hall previews community forum

Indianola Police Chief Edrick Hall was on hand at the Indianola Rotary Club this week, inviting members to attend what he predicts will be a standing room only community forum at the B.B. King Museum, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight. The forum is being held to address short-term solutions to Indianola’s gun violence issues.
