On December 27, the members, family and friends of Indianola Lodge No. 450 celebrated the installation of Lodge Officers for 2022 at an open meeting to observe the Festival of Saint John the Baptist, one of the patron saints of Freemasonry.
Ricky Stevens, Past Master of Ebenezer Lodge No. 76 in Senatobia served as Installing Master. Andy Martin, Past Master of Clarksdale Lodge No. 286 served as Installing Marshal. Chartered on February 22, 1900, the Indianola Lodge has met in their current Hall in downtown Indianola since the early 1900’s. Known as the world’s largest and oldest fraternity, Freemasonry traces its roots back at least three centuries to 1717 with the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England.
Written records indicate that various forms of Freemasonry were practiced as far back as the 1300s in England and Scotland.
