IA Beautification Club donates can tabs to Ronald McDonald House

Indianola Academy students and Beautification Club collected and donated seventeen gallons of aluminum can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Memphis.  The money received from recycling these tabs will be used to help support the services The Ronald McDonald House provides to families of children undergoing treatment at St.

Fulcher to join Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi

Keith Fulcher will join the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi as Executive Vice President, the foundation announced Friday.

Fulcher has served at Delta State University for 23 years as executive director of the Alumni Foundation, director of development and most recently as special assistant to the president.


Healthcare topic at Rotary

Healthcare has been the topic of the last two Rotary programs in Indianola. The first was Allison Taylor, who represented the American Cancer Society during the meeting two weeks ago. This week, the Club welcomed Julie Peyton with Grace Hospice. Pictured left are Rotarian Jerry Nobile, Taylor and Moorhead Mayor George Holland.


‘Here comes the hat trick’

I don’t think I can ever remember a time in my life where I’ve gone several weeks, let alone months, without being able to go into my backyard.

We’re thankful that we have a big backyard for Ellie and Sarah to play in, but the only problem is that there hasn’t been enough break in the rain since December for it to dry up.

UAB, Head Coach Bill Clark, finally set free

Shortly before Alabama mounted a historic come-from-behind win against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game last Saturday, another Yellowhammer state team was putting the finishing touches on a conference title of its own.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham defeated Middle Tennessee State 27-25 for the Conference USA title.

City says “Concerned Citizens” group can’t meet in public building

After a lengthy debate, the Indianola Board of Aldermen voted 3 to 2 against allowing use of a city-owned building to the Concerned Citizens Committee to conduct its regular monthly meetings.
Alderman Marvin Elder made the motion to allow.
“Let’s not hold them up,” he said. Alderman Ruben Woods seconded and they both voted yes.
