Hall previews community forum

Indianola Police Chief Edrick Hall was on hand at the Indianola Rotary Club this week, inviting members to attend what he predicts will be a standing room only community forum at the B.B. King Museum, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight. The forum is being held to address short-term solutions to Indianola’s gun violence issues.

Florida Mae Henderson, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019 in Phoenix, Ariz.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Baptist Grove Church, with repast immediately following at the Annie Strong Center, both in Sunflower.

There’s a lot to be said about the dwindling population in the Mississippi Delta.

That trend continues to negatively affect the region’s healthcare, education and economic development.

It’s difficult recruiting jobs to a region that is losing its labor pool more and more year-after-year.

Sunflower County youth killed in apparent accidental shooting

A 17-year-old Sunflower County youth has died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest that he received from a 9 mm handgun early Sunday morning at a home in the 200 block of Augusta Street.

Caleb Smith, a junior at Indianola Academy, died late Sunday night at a Jackson hospital as a result of his injury.
