Girl Scouts gather canned goods

Girl Scout Troop 30099 recently gathered canned goods and ingredients for Thanksgiving dinners with choice of turkey or ham that were given to ten elderly families in the community. The troop, along with help from other community individuals, has made this a tradition for the past three years.

Price, Ross convicted of first-degree murder in April 2017 shooting

According to a statement by District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson, a grand jury in Sunflower County recently handed down a guilty verdict in the April 17, 2017 shooting death of Aaron Beamon and the wounding of Savantae Pernell and Zachary Lee who were passengers in the car with Beamon.

Sunflower County youth killed in apparent accidental shooting

A 17-year-old Sunflower County youth has died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest that he received from a 9 mm handgun early Sunday morning at a home in the 200 block of Augusta Street.

Caleb Smith, a junior at Indianola Academy, died late Sunday night at a Jackson hospital as a result of his injury.
