Mr. Woods, 72, departed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020.

Visitation was from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home, Indianola, which was in charge of arrangements.


Ernest Webb

Services for Ernest Webb of Indianola will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Webb, 57, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Gardens.



Alberta Robertson

Services for Alberta Robertson of Moorhead will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Swan Lake Missionary Baptist Church, Moorhead.

Ms. Robertson, 63, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, Indianola, which is in charge of arrangements.

Gone too soon: Indianola’s latest victim of gun violence leaves behind two kids, legacy of love

Senseless gun violence has claimed the future of yet another Indianola man in the prime of his life.

And as with any such act, it has left an irreplaceable void in a family and the community.

On December 13, 28-year-old Travis Shaw became the latest victim in a string of tragic young deaths one month before his 29th birthday.

Rams knock out CCHS

With three consecutive home-court wins under their belt the Gentry High Rams basketball team is turning in a strong start to their young season.

Owning a 3-1 record following Tuesday night’s 73-52 victory over Cleveland Central High School, the Rams will now take an extended break from live action.




It’s playoffs time for IA: Colonels to host Tunica Academy in the first round Friday

For the eighth consecutive year, an Indianola Academy Colonels football team is headed to the playoffs.

Following their fourth straight victory last Friday night, a 33-7 road win over Canton Academy, the 6-4 Colonels will now open their 3A state playoff competition this Friday night on Legion Field.

Community Bank held its annual Veterans Day breakfast in support of America’s military heroes on Veterans Day, and it was well attended by the Delta’s military locals.

Once again Josh Henderson of Inverness was on hand to share some of his thoughts and convictions with the soldiers.

Coach Larry Calhoun, the star of the Move to Learn exercise break videos, visited the campus of East Sunflower Elementary School on Thursday to introduce administrators, teachers and students to the Move to Learn Initiative.
