Mr. Woods, 72, departed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020.

Visitation was from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home, Indianola, which was in charge of arrangements.


Ernest Webb

Services for Ernest Webb of Indianola will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Webb, 57, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Gardens.



Alberta Robertson

Services for Alberta Robertson of Moorhead will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Swan Lake Missionary Baptist Church, Moorhead.

Ms. Robertson, 63, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, Indianola, which is in charge of arrangements.

Hall previews community forum

Indianola Police Chief Edrick Hall was on hand at the Indianola Rotary Club this week, inviting members to attend what he predicts will be a standing room only community forum at the B.B. King Museum, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight. The forum is being held to address short-term solutions to Indianola’s gun violence issues.

Alberta Thomas Kennedy

Alberta Thomas Kennedy, 86, of Trussville, Alabama, formerly of Indianola, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019.

She was born in Pine, Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University. A lifelong schoolteacher, she taught fourth and fifth grades at Indianola Academy from 1976 until her retirement in 1990.

Community Bank held its annual Veterans Day breakfast in support of America’s military heroes on Veterans Day, and it was well attended by the Delta’s military locals.

Once again Josh Henderson of Inverness was on hand to share some of his thoughts and convictions with the soldiers.

Students from East Sunflower Elementary School in Sunflower, Restoration Ministries Christian Academy in Indianola and Presbyterian Day School of Cleveland were just a few of the local youths who received brief lessons and hands-on experiences in agriculture during the Sunflower County Extension Service FARMtastic event.
