Board accepts resignations from city clerk, attorney

Once again the city of Indianola is without a city clerk.

After emerging from a closed executive session on Monday night, the Indianola Board of Aldermen introduced a motion to accept the resignation of City Clerk Lashanda Moore effective December 6.

The aldermen voted and unanimously accepted the proposal.

Healthy State, Ole Miss football programs good for everybody

Die-hard Mississippi State football fans who basked in the forced resignation of Hugh Freeze in the summer of 2017 and in the NCAA’s subsequent destruction of the Ole Miss football program hopefully have come to understand that such outcomes are not good for either side of that rivalry, nor the state as a whole.

Sunflower County youth killed in apparent accidental shooting

A 17-year-old Sunflower County youth has died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest that he received from a 9 mm handgun early Sunday morning at a home in the 200 block of Augusta Street.

Caleb Smith, a junior at Indianola Academy, died late Sunday night at a Jackson hospital as a result of his injury.
