Mrs. Kathryn A. Ruth went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 21, 2021 in Cleveland.
Kathryn was born July 19, 1926 in Carroll County to Miller Arant and Alene Turner Arant. She married Bryce Clinton Ruth on February 14, 1948 in Greenwood. She lived in Ruleville for many years, then lived in Cleveland for the last 28 years. She moved to Indywood Estates ten years ago, then home to Terrace Road during her illness. She worked as a secretary for Senator J.O. Eastland for over 25 years. Upon Senator Eastland’s retirement, she went to work for the Farmers Home Administration, from where she later retired. Kathryn enjoyed playing Bridge, and she played regularly. She was active in Business & Professional Women’s Club. She also volunteered for the Bolivar Medical Center Auxiliary. She was an active member of her church, First United Methodist.
She is preceded in passing by her loving husband, Bryce Clinton Ruth Sr.; her parents, Miller and Alene Arant; her son, Lieutenant Colonel Bryce Clinton Ruth Jr.; and brothers, Hugh Miller Arant and Andy Turner Arant.
She is survived by her son, Miller Ruth (Elizabeth); granddaughters, Mary Frances Ruth Carroll (Tyler), Kathleen Bryce Ruth Powell (J.D.) and Lauren Elizabeth Ruth; grandson, Bryce Clinton Ruth III (Emily); great-grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Carroll, John Marshal Powell, Kathleen Nicole Powell, Elizabeth Ann (Lizzy) Orcutt, Preston Ruth and Colin Ruth; daughter-in-law, Martha McCorkle Ruth; and sisters-in-law, Kathryn Carver Arant and Sybil Kirk Arant.
A visitation was held at Ray Funeral Home, Cleveland on Wednesday, March 24 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a graveside service immediately following at Lehrton Cemetery, Ruleville. Pallbearers were Bryce Clinton Ruth III, SSG Tyler Carroll, J.D. Powell, Frank Beach, John Phillip Land and Hugh Miller Arant III.
