Indianola police made the following arrests,

On Sunday at 7:27 p.m., Kayla Renay Weatherspoon, 19, 347 Crittenden St, Greenville and Ladedra Marsha Bryant, 19, 118 South Sunset Terrace, Jackson were arrested and charged with shoplifting after a Walmart employee said they stole $44 worth of sweaters.

Cruger First Apostolic Church, located at 158 Blanchard Street at the corner of Hwy. 49 in Cruger, will host a Fall Revival at 7 p.m. tomorrow and 11 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Suffragan Bishop Melvin Falkner, pastor of Zion Tabernacle Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Friends of the Henry M. Seymour Library will host its annual Membership Drive from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. TODAY at the Henry M. Seymour Library. The theme is “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” so come by and renew your annual membership and have cocktails on us.  Hope to see you there!

Federal grant awarded for drug court upstart


The City of Indianola is one step closer to getting its municipal drug court.

Municipal Court Judge Kuykendall Horne-Murry informed the city’s Mayor and Aldermen on Monday night that the project has been awarded nearly $393,000 in Federal grant money that is to be disbursed over the next four years to aid in its operation.

NSA heads to Deer Creek


There are now only three District 1-1A contests remaining on the North Sunflower Academy Rebels regular season football schedule.

With this important trio of games beginning with a trip to Deer Creek School in Arcola this Friday, the 2-5, 0-1 Rebels will take the field at 7 p.m. against the 4-4, 0-1 Warriors.


JMG Student of the Week

The Jobs for Mississippi Graduates Gentry High Student of the Week is Jakeirra Griffin. The senior Indianola native plans to attend nursing school after graduation, with a dream job of being a registered nurse. In her spare time, she enjoys doing hair for others. She is pictured with JMG Instructor and Job Specialist Dr. Adrian Brown.


UAB, Head Coach Bill Clark, finally set free


Shortly before Alabama mounted a historic come-from-behind win against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game last Saturday, another Yellowhammer state team was putting the finishing touches on a conference title of its own.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham defeated Middle Tennessee State 27-25 for the Conference USA title.
