MDCC baseball standout Dendy headed to Delta State next year

Delta State University Head Baseball Coach Rodney Batts announced that Blayke Dendy has signed to continue his collegiate career with the Statesmen in 2021 on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Dendy spent one season playing for Coach Dan Rives at Mississippi Delta Community College in 2019.

The Yazoo City, Miss., native was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Second-Team All-State after hitting .355 with 30 runs scored, seven doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 23 RBI. Dendy also had a .504 on-base percentage and was selected as the team's Best Offensive Player as a rookie.

The 6-foot, 1-inch Dendy was a five-year letterwinner and was a three-time All-District and a two-time MAIS All-State selection at Manchester Academy for Coach Kyle Weaver.

Dendy was named to the MAIS All-Star game after his senior season.

Dendy was a standout on the gridiron as well, earning a MAIS All-Star game selection and conference MVP honors as a senior football player.

He garnered All-State laurels two times and was a three-time All-Conference recipient in football for the Mavericks.

Dendy also won the Scholastic Award in baseball for his efforts in the classroom.

Dendy will have three years of eligibility remaining at Delta State.
