The Mississippi Department of Education announced this week that Sunflower County Consolidated School District Superintendent Miskia Davis has been appointed to the steering committee aimed at re-opening schools in the fall.
“We provide recommendations on issues such as communication, academic programming, operations, etc.,” Davis told The E-T this week. “We give guidance on what school districts should consider and/or do to effectively re-open schools.”
There are nine total members of the group, which was organized by State Superintendent Carey Wright.
The state’s schools, public and private, were shuttered after spring break in March due to COVID-19.
The state has committed itself to re-opening secondary and higher ed schools in the fall in a more traditional in-person manner.
