Zach Day from Hazlehurst won the 16th Annual Mississippi Delta Regional Blues Challenge for Solo at The Blue Biscuit on Sunday afternoon. The competition featured five acts with the other artists being from Indianola, Clarksdale, Philipp, and Leland. Day has recently released his latest album entitled, “Mississippi Heat.” He will now advance to the quarterfinals of The Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis. IBC dates are January 28 – February 1, 2020. “We have two young up and coming acts representing our blues society and our town. Music is what they want to do. They are great at the social media-thing and IBC could take them to the next level,” said Janet Webb of the blues society. Keith Johnson and the Big Muddy Band from Greenville won the band challenge.
