On May 2, Justin L. Forest was commissioned into the U.S. Army National Guard as a Second Lieutenant in the Medical Services Corps. Second Lieutenant Forest will attend the U.S. Army Medical Department Basic Officer Leadership Course (AMEDD BOLC) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Second Lieutenant Forest graduated from Jackson State University magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration on May 4. While in the Tiger Battalion at JSU he served in several leadership positions including Company Officer, Platoon Leader, Physical Training Leader and Operations Officer. He was recognized as JSU Cadet of the Year by the Brooks W. Stewart VFW Post #9832, Jackson on May 5. He also received the American Heart Association’s HBCU Scholar Award, working under the mentorship of Dr. Mario Sims investigating the “Relationship of Housing Status and the Risk of Cardiovascular Disease.”
Justin is a native of Moorhead and is a graduate of Gentry High School. The son of Delma Forest Elem and Antoine Wright, he is both a first-generation soldier and Army officer.
