Girl Scouts host Cookie Awards Day

Local Girl Scout Troop 30123 recently hosted its Cookie Awards Day Ceremony and celebrated a successful cookie-selling season with a pizza party.

The seven-girl troop, who had a recognized presence around Indianola, marketed a combined total of 3,403 boxes of the sweet treats.

Over 75 percent of the sales were attributed to three girls, with first place honors going to Myieshia Smith selling over 1000 boxes of cookies. Troop Leader, Shequite Johnson expressed her thanks to Myieshia’s mother Lena Hope for creating the mobile cookie delivery truck.

In second place was Phillystity Gray, who sold over 850 boxes and Johnson expressed her gratitude to parents Phillip and Ollie Gray for assisting with the cookie booths and with the girls.

Jameshia Attaway placed third for selling over 800 boxes. “These three young ladies went above and beyond with creative ideas to get cookies sold and to involve the rest of the girls,” Johnson said.

Johnson also expressed special thanks to Wade Turner and Alexia Beckworth for allowing the girls to sell cookies in front of their storefronts.

Additionally, she asserted her appreciation to Derrick Johnson and Jamal Thomas for picking up, separating and packing the cookies for delivery.

“This year has demonstrated a lot of teamwork from the girls, community members and parents,” added Johnson.
