MDAA production of Beauty and the Beast set for June

A Disney classic will come to the Delta in June when Mid-Delta Arts Association will present Beauty and the Beast for 8 performances.

Beauty and the Beast had a remarkable 13 year run on Broadway and has been produced in 37 countries worldwide.  Dr. Eddie Donahoe will direct the MDAA stage version of the Academy Award winning Disney creation.

Opening at the Brindley Theater in Indianola on June 20 at 7 pm, the show will continue June 21-22, 25-28 at 7 pm with a Sunday, June 23 matinee at 2 pm.

This “tale as old as time” is filled with colorful characters and memorable music.  The classic story tells of Belle and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under a spell.  Only love can break the spell and time is running out for the Beast.

Tryouts were held in December and staging began in January with principal roles.  The cast is comprised of many talented Deltans and outstanding students from as far away as Memphis.

This is a show for all ages, but especially for children.  Don’t miss what is sure to be the “summer hit” of 2019.

Tickets for Patrons will go on sale in May and general admission tickets will be on sale the first week of June.  Tickets can be purchased at The Crown in Indianola or on the website,

Another state championship has now been added to the Indianola Academy folklore.
