Several heavy political hitters, including current candidates, will be on hand for the Mississippi State Conference of the NAACP.
The Sunflower County NAACP Branch #5333 will host the gathering, according to a release by the local chapter.
The meeting will be held at the B.B. King Museum starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will last through the afternoon, according to organizers.
The event will feature a who’s who of political leaders in Mississippi, including current U.S. Senate candidate Mike Espy. Espy formerly served as Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture and as the Representative of the Second District of Mississippi.
The agenda also features appearances from U.S. Congressman Bennie Thompson, National NAACP President Derrick Johnson, and Mississippi Sen. Willie Simmons – Cleveland, is slated to make an appearance at the program.
All local NAACP members are encouraged to attend. The meeting is open to the public.
