Shoppers in Indianola and throughout Mississippi can save the 7 percent sales tax on clothes and shoes purchased Friday and Saturday.
A law passed in 2009 exempts the tax for one weekend before school starts on items less than $100.
The sales tax holiday applies to each eligible item selling for less than $100, regardless of how many items are sold at the same time.
But it does not apply to other goods, including accessories like jewelry, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, wallets, watches, backpacks, briefcases and similar items.
For additional questions regarding the tax holiday, contact the Mississippi Department of Revenue at (601) 923-7015.
