Tropical Storm Sally continues to track slowly Northwest through the Gulf at 9 MPH. Sally is expected to become a hurricane by Monday. Sally will likely make landfall near New Orleans as a strong Category 1 hurricane. It's not out of the question Sally could be stronger than that prior to landfall, especially if rapid intesification occurs overnight. The exact track will determine the effects on our weather. If it tracks on the western edge of the cone, this would put us on the right side of the storm, which would mean heavy downpours and gusty wind. If we are on the left side of the storm, much less impacts would be felt. We will keep you posted as this is a fluid situation.
