An unsettled week of weather will close out 2020 here in the Delta. Monday and Tuesday will be fairly quiet with mostly cloudy skies. A few light showers will develop Monday afternoon, but for the most part you can expect cloudy skies. Things get messy in the Wednesday-Thursday timeframe. An approaching low-pressure system will bring in deep Gulf moisture beginning on Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will break out Wednesday afternoon and continue through Thursday. Forecast models have slowed the progression of the low-pressure system down over the last few runs. This means we could be in for rainfall amounts of 1-3” with locally heavier amounts. A few strong storms will be possible south of Highway 82, but it looks like a bulk of the severe weather will stay to our south. We still don’t have the exact timing of this system down so expect changes to the forecast over the next two days.
Conditions will clear as we usher in 2021 with much cooler temperatures expected. I hope everyone has a great day!..God bless
