Addie B. Armstrong Hudson

A homegoing celebration for Addie B. Armstrong Hudson, 71, of Chicago and formerly of Greenville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakland Covenant Church in Chicago.

Addie went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Leak and Sons Funeral Home, Chicago. 

The Rev. Rodney S. Patterson will officiate at the services.   

Addie was born March 31, 1948, in Long Switch to George and Bessie Armstrong.  She accepted Christ at an early age at Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Long Switch.  She was presently a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Rodney Patterson.  Her early education began at Dunleith School; then Lincoln Attendance Center (Breisch High School) in Leland; and Coleman High School, Greenville, from where she graduated in 1966.  Upon graduation, she entered Tougaloo College, graduating in 1970 with a degree in Sociology. She later received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University.  

Addie’s memory will be forever cherished by a long-time friend, John Williams; her daughter, Valerie Lynette; grandson, Alvin Jemal; and great-granddaughter, Autumn Nicole, all of Chicago;  one sister, Hattie Mae Jackson of Greenville; five brothers, George (Yvonne) Armstrong of Indianola, Sammie (Ollie) Armstrong of Greenville, Johnny Armstrong Sr. of Cedar Hill, Texas, Henry (Cuvator) Armstrong of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Jimmy (Barbara) Armstrong of White Plains, New York.
