Donald “Sonny” Hampton

Donald “Sonny” Hampton, age 80, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 at North West Mississippi Medical Center in Clarksdale.

Mr. Hampton was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the Navy and per his wishes he will be buried at sea with military rites.

He was born April 27, 1939 to Clarence and Lula Worley Hampton and lived in Drew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel Leahy Hampton; five brothers, James, Jack, J.C., Marvin and Alvin Hampton; and three sisters, Pearl Morgan, Peggy Brooks and Lula Williams.

He is survived by three sisters, Sue (Travis) Tiller of West, Mandy (Jim) Washington of Pontotoc and Izzie Hudson of Indianola; his beloved nephew, Benny (Edna) Brooks of Merigold; his caregiver, Simara Brooks; and a host of nieces and nephews.
