Floyd Stevens Anderson Jr.

Floyd Stevens Anderson Jr., 65, of Inverness, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Anderson, affectionately known as “Porgie,” was born Aug. 25, 1953 in Indianola and was the son of Floyd Stevens Anderson Sr. and Ann Elizabeth McClain Anderson. Porgie was raised and lived his entire life in Inverness.  He loved the agriculture industry and was a successful farmer.  Porgie was a member of Delta Council, Delta 1000, and Greenwood Farmers Club.  He served on the Loan Committee of Federal Land Bank.  He was voted Soybean Farmer of the Year multiple times, and Conservation Farmer of the Year in 2018.  He was most honored to take Bruce Brumfield’s seat on the Board of Duncan Gin.  Porgie loved hunting and fishing, most especially deep-sea fishing.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cynthia Jan Anderson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Penny Anderson of Inverness; children, Will Anderson of Inverness, Brian Anderson and wife Day of Clinton, Juli Pate and husband Ricky of Indianola and C.J. Anderson of Indianola; sister, Patti Cross and nephew John-Michael Cameron, both of Pensacola; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at First Baptist Church in Inverness.  Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery.
