Linda Jean Dees Spencer

Linda Jean Dees Spencer, 78, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Linda was born in Arkansas to Birtis and Addie Lou McDaniel Dees on May 9, 1940. She worked for many years as a cotton buyer, first with V&M Cotton Company and later opened her own business, Spencer-Williams Cotton Company. After her retirement from the cotton industry, she worked at Indianola Family Medical Clinic. Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a very caring nature and loved people. Linda enjoyed reading, watching sports, watching Dancing with the Stars, and especially loved shopping. It was said, “She would give you the shirt off of her back so she could go buy another one.”

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Woodrow Spencer Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Woody Spencer and his wife Susan of Indianola, and Michael Spencer and his wife Amy of Memphis; one brother, Jimmy Dees and his wife Debbie of Winston-Salem, N. C.; one sister, Sue Dees of Clarksdale; three grandchildren, Mallory Johns, Tara Smith and Madison McCracken; two step-grandchildren, Watson Brewer and Mary Clayton Brewer; and three great-grandchildren, Wade Smith, Charlotte McCracken and Max Johns.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 18, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery.
