People need to get past the past!By BY GARY ANDREWS GARY@GADEVOTIONALS.COM,
When I was in school, which was many years ago, I studied American History, World History, and my state history. All were very interesting, and I learned about what happened before my time. I can’t say that I always agreed with what happened, but you can’t go back in history and change what took place at that time. We can learn from our history and change the problems of the past to be better in the future.
It is interesting that many people of today, including celebrities and politicians, want to protest activities that happened many years ago. My question is WHY? They want to interfere with current events and create chaos causing ill feelings among diverse groups of people. I guess my thought concerning this is, why create problems for the current people on something that happened years ago? You can’t change history, but you can make better decisions and laws today that correct the wrongs of the past.
We are told in Romans 13:12; “The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
Everyone in the world today has sinned and will continue sinning. We are all imperfect people and we have all made mistakes. We cannot change our past, but Jesus has given us hope for the future. All we must do is accept Him as our personal Lord and Savior. Once we do this our future will change because the ways of the world will not be as appealing as they were in the days gone by.
I realize that many people do not believe in the Christian way of life, however I do. It changed my life many, many years ago and I have been blessed knowing that my eternal home is in Heaven with my Lord and Savior. It doesn’t mean I have had a perfect life because I have seen my share of struggles.
Everyone and I mean everyone, understands that we are going to die and leave this earth. The only thing left from us is our legacy. What did we do to make our nation a better place? Yes, some will leave earthly possessions that can be used, enjoyed, or fought over by family members or friends. Hopefully many of us will be remembered by our accomplishments, kindness, generosity, and willingness to help those in need.
Reading our history of many years ago will not change what happened at that time. These people that created these problems are gone. The people of today that are protesting their actions never knew them or their thinking. The only true action that we can do is accept what they did and change it today for the better.
Each person must look deep into their own heart and decide what action to take. If you feel that your life has been out of tune with God, then accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior and He will help you in your decisions. God is the only person that doesn’t change. He is the same today, as He was yesterday, and since the beginning of the earth.
