Now 4-3 on the young basketball season, the Gentry High Lady Rams will be hitting the road again this Saturday.
After defeating Grenada High School by a 52-41 margin Tuesday night in their first of five consecutive road games to be played in early December, the Lady Rams will attempt to pick up another victory this Saturday with their 6 p.m. clash against Greenville High School.
This will then be followed by a trip to Cleveland Central High next Tuesday. This 6 p.m. game also serves as the Lady Rams final test prior to playing their first Region 3-4A contest; a December 13 visit to Rosa Fort High in Tunica.
In their most recent action against Grenada High, the Lady Rams’ scoring efforts were led by Jaidra Green’s 14 point outing.
Also reaching double digit scoring in this game were sophomore Darlicia Coleman and freshman Jada Delaney with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Meanwhile last Saturday the Lady Rams hosted Leland High School and earned a 46-43 decision over the Cubs.
Although Gentry High owned a 19-15 halftime lead, the Leland High squad came out hot and the fourth period began with the Lady Rams facing a 34-28 deficit.
However, the Gentry squad turned up their defense and ultimately outscored the Leland High squad 18-9 in the final quarter to escape with the win.
Leading the scoring for the Lady Rams this night was freshman Taniyah Williams with 13 points.
Following close behind was Coleman with a dozen points while Delaney hit double digits in another category by bringing down 11 rebounds.
