The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a 22-year-old Indianola man in connection with a shooting last month that left a woman and child injured.
The Marshals Service announced Tuesday morning the arrest of Delvin Jones. He was apprehended in Indianola by the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, in coordination with the Indianola Police Department.
Jones was wanted by the Indianola Police Department for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce death or serious bodily harm following an incident on West Percy Street.
On Feb. 12, an adult female, 46, and her young grandson, 7, were shot and seriously injured after their car was riddled with bullets on West Percy Street. There was also a toddler, 2, in the vehicle at the time of the shooting that was unharmed. On Feb. 19, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Jones in connection to the shooting. The investigation surrounding the motive of the shooting is still ongoing.
On Monday, the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked Jones to a house on Jordan Drive in Indianola. With the assistance of the Indianola Police Department, U.S. Marshals surrounded the residence, and Jones was taken into custody without incident. A Glock pistol was recovered during the arrest and was seized as possible evidence of a crime.
