Howard Sims passed away November 17, 2023 after a lengthy illness at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Howard was a graduate of Greenville High School, Delta State University and Mississippi Southern University. He served in the United States Navy both as an Enlisted Seaman and later as a Naval Flight Officer. His military service included time spent flying in multiple theaters of operations and working with the NSA. After leaving the Navy, Howard went to work for the state Maryland as a geologist focusing on environmental programs.

Joe Nathan Lee, 67, of Greenville, MS passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in Honolulu, HI. He was born on February 8,1956.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Yolanda Rena (Andrew) Ehere and granddaughter, Andraya Ehere of Honolulu, HI.

Thelma Jean Reed, 70, of Greenville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 8th following her battle with colon cancer.
Homegoing services will be on Saturday, November 18th, at 11 am at New Hope First Baptist Church, 705 Nelson Street in Greenville (where she was a lifelong member).

Patricia Cortright, lovingly known as Pat, was born on April 8, 1957, in Leland, Mississippi, to Bud and Lizzie Fordham, who instilled in her a strong sense of family and faith. Patricia's life was defined by her unwavering dedication as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and devout Jehovah's Witness. She passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2023, in Copperas Cove, Texas. She was married to her lifelong love, Blaine Cortright on October 15, 1975. They spent 48 incredible years together married, over 50 years all told.

He retired from Gypsum Mill, Greenville Lumber Company, Utility Products and Greenville Public School System. He enjoyed working, photography and racing cars. He was well known in Greenville and loved the annual Blues festival which he attended for years. He leaves behind 14 children, 1 sister and 1 brother. The family hour will be held at Redmond Funeral Home on Thursday October 9.

GREENVILLE, Mississippi - Eloise Lanier Dean Cumbaa was born in Greenville in 1929 to Charles Otho Dean and Geraldine Rousseau Dean of Leland. She died peacefully at her home at 97 years of age.
Eloise graduated from Leland Public School with honors. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and received a degree in English and History Education. After graduation, she returned to Mississippi and had her first job teaching in an elementary school in Vicksburg.
