When I was young, and as most children do, my brothers and I had our times of not getting along and would get into verbal spats. I very distinctly remember my youngest brother coming up to me after one of these spats and saying, “How would you like to wake up dead in the morning?”
I didn’t think much about it at the time but it was some years later that these words really sunk into my thinking; however, not in the way he meant them.
Accepting Christ as my personal Savior at the age of 12 I have always known I can trust Him and look to Him for inspiration, wisdom, guidance and comfort. Over 50 plus years Jesus has been the center of my life. He has blessed me with a great marriage, four tremendous children, and now grandchildren. Knowing Him has allowed me to have gainful employment even at the times I may have been unemployed.
The Lord has blessed me tremendously. Visiting and talking with friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. has given me insight to what the phrase “waking up dead every morning,” really means.
There are so many of us who are spiritually dead and out of tune with our God, that we are literally walking this earth with no reality of eternal life. Many of us self-professed Christians are really dead to what Jesus tells us.
In John 14:6 Jesus tells us, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Research has shown us that no idol or other god has ever made the statement that they are the truth; yet, so many people walking today’s earth believe in these false gods.
We need to wake up and face reality. When you die and leave this world behind where will you spend eternal life? Will it be with our heavenly Father or will it be as a member of Hades? We have a choice and we don’t have to wake up spiritually dead every day. Call on the name of Jesus and accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior and your rewards will be great!
