David Smith Construction and Sunflower Lumber Company & Home Center owners David and Donna Smith are pleased to announce the hiring of Jim Aycock as Sunflower Lumber’s new general manager.
David and Donna, who have been married for 49 years, together have owned Indianola-based Sunflower Lumber for 24 years.
The company has most recently been under the management of their oldest son, Brady Smith.
Brady Smith will be transitioning to serve as vice president of development in PowerPoint Properties, LLC, a new residential real estate business venture David has started with sons Brady and Martin Smith.
“Brady’s 25-plus years of construction experience will be invaluable to his new role,” David Smith said. “Powerpoint Properties started as a 40-acre development located south of Starkville, providing turnkey custom-built homes. Powerpoint Properties currently has one subdivision, Ironwood, nearing completion, with a new land tract in development, Shaw Creek, with construction set to begin in 2025. In addition to our property development, we also build custom homes for clients looking to make the move to Starkville.”

Brady Smith currently resides in Inverness with his wife Lindsey and their two children, Helms and Mary Meeks.
“We are pleased to announce and welcome Jim Aycock to Sunflower Lumber Company & Home Center as the new General Manager,” David Smith said. “Jim brings a wealth of business and leadership experience and will be responsible for day-to-day operations. His skills will make him a vital asset in moving our companies forward in the next many years.”
Jim currently resides in Caile with his wife Jackie and their one daughter, Hannah.
David Smith Construction, Inc. was founded in 1985, initially building residential properties, before transitioning to become one of the Mississippi Delta’s premier commercial building contractors.
David Smith Construction is managed by Martin Smith, senior vice-president of operations. Martin and his wife Kristen live in Inverness along with their two children Maisy and Luke.
