The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center is hosted its annual Early Learning Literacy Weeks, running from Sept. 23 through Oct. 10, and welcomed young students from across the region for a celebration of reading and childhood discovery.
On Thursday, Oct. 2, children from Tender Ages Christian Academy joined fellow early learners for a lively morning centered on Dr. Seuss’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” as part of themed programming that turned the museum into a colorful Whoville-inspired wonderland.
Museum program coordinator Misty Clark donned a Grinch hat and read the classic story to attentive children, who gathered on classroom rugs surrounded by festive decorations and interactive displays. The atmosphere blended joyful storytelling with hands-on activities, encouraging PreK to third grade students to participate and build a lifelong love of learning.
The Early Learning Literacy Weeks reflect the museum’s ongoing mission to bring children together and promote early literacy throughout the Mississippi Delta. Organizers have worked with area schools, libraries and community partners for more than five years to provide engaging opportunities for kids to discover the joy of reading. The program invites classes to schedule visits and groups to join in activities.
